Pigeon Post

Pigeon Post | Arthur Ransome

The Swallows and Amazons, along with their friends the D’s are excited to spend a adventuresome summer in the Hill Country above the lake, the previous location of their adventures. The friends soon embark on an exciting adventure on the quest for gold in the hills. But soon a suspicious character shows up: Squashy Hat. Squashy seems to be looking for gold too, but will he find it first? The Swallows, Amazons and D’s must keep their claim safe, as well avoiding fires in the unusually hot summer, and figuring the dos and don’ts of sending mail by the Amazon’s pigeons. Can they find gold, or will Squashy Hat get to it first?

I thoroughly enjoyed Pigeon Post, as I have enjoyed the others in the Swallows and Amazons series. Pigeon Post is another delightful adventure in the world of the Swallows and Amazons, with all the elements of an adventure story including, excitement, imagination, and a quest for a desirable item. This book will satisfy fans of Coot Club, the book that precedes Pigeon Post.
