Pollyanna is a perfect read-aloud as Pollyanna’s gift of finding the blessing in all situations is a lesson for young and grown alike. Pollyanna is an orphan who moves to a new town to live with a wealthy aunt she has never met and who does not look forward to her arrival. Through her relationships with all different people in the town (rich and poor, young, and old), Pollyanna influences their outlook on life. She does this selflessly but, in the end,, benefits from the goodwill she has sown.
We loved this book, and the often bittersweet “glad” observations Pollyanna makes during difficult circumstances. Pollyanna is always finding reason to rejoice and reminds us all to dwell on the positive.
