Redwall

Redwall | Brian Jacques

Redwall is about a mouse named Matthias who lives in an abbey called Redwall. One peaceful summer evening Cluny the Scourge, a truly rotten-to-the-bone evil conquering rat, flies past Redwall on an out-of-control hay wagon. Soon the Redwall Abbey is under attack from Cluny and his army, and Matthias finds himself on a great quest for a warrior’s sword. Will he make it out alive, retrieve the sword and save Redwall from Cluny the Scourge?

I really enjoyed Redwall, but it had some bad words to portray that Cluny the Scourge really was a bad rat. Redwall kept me on the edge of my seat as Matthias battles the evil army of Cluny. I would recommend Redwall to anyone who liked The Green Ember, or any book with talking animal warriors.

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Age Group: 10+ (Would be great for 8.5+ if not for the bad words.)

Rating Out of Five Stars: 4.5

Is It A Series: Yes – the Redwall series. Book one of twenty-two. Plus two picture books. So, you could say book one of twenty-four.

Fiction or Nonfiction: Fiction
