The Boundless | Kenneth Oppel
The Boundless is about a boy named William whose father works on the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway owner likes Will’s father because he is a hard worker. The book fast-forwards a couple years to when, after many promotions, William’s father is appointed to General Manager of the Canadian Pacific’s steamship line. The Boundless, a train with seven miles of cars behind it on its maiden voyage, will take William and his father across the country. But soon after departing from the station, Will finds himself caught up in an (possibly deadly) adventure involving magic, a key, and a golden spike. Contains a medium-sized quantity of mature content.
This book was good, but it had some parts that were scary. Do not read it before bed. 😁 I like trains so I think I might have liked it more than most people. I would not recommend reading it unless you like trains and are prepared for some bloody deaths and scary parts. Oh my. When you say it that way the book really sounds bad. It is actually pretty good if you decide it is worth it.
