The Boys in The Boat (Young Reader's Edition) | Daniel James Brown
This is an inspiring book about the road to success, and the challenges along the way. The main character is Joe Rantz. Joe Rantz had an extremely hard childhood. During his high school years Joe saves enough money to attend the University of Washington. He tries out for the rowing team at UW and makes the first boat! (The first boat is the best freshman boat.) The remainder of the book is about Joe’s journey to the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
This book made me feel sad, happy and excited. I loved all the descriptions and how the writer portrayed rowing. The ending is satisfying and happy. I loved all of this book, the sad parts, the happy parts, the exciting parts and the bittersweet parts.
