The Star Dunes | Trudi Trueit
The Star Dunes is the fourth book in the Explorer Academy series published by National Geographic. Cruz Coronado is thirteen, thwarting Nebula’s plans to have him “out of the picture” by age thirteen. Cruz follows the clues his mom left behind to find the fourth piece of the cipher. The clues lead him to a desert in Namibia, where he also finds Nebula, after him again. Will an unexpected guest thwart the mission? The plot contains some violence.
This book was a fast-paced and exciting read. I really enjoy this series which contains ciphers, cutting-edge technology, and lots of adventures! This book was released during quarantine, and it has some similarities to this hard time: pangolins are mentioned in the book and pangolins are a suspected COVID-19 source. In the book, a team of explorers goes on a mission to save gorillas from a virus that did not hurt humans much, but it killed gorillas. It is kind of the reverse of COVID-19.
