The battle in Loamnore leaves everyone shaken. If a king would side with the Neverseen, who else might be infiltrating their ranks? The conflict is beginning to spiral out of control. Keefe gains strange new powers unlike anything the Lost Cities have ever seen before, and Sophiw declares war on the Neverseen by burning down a warehouse debatably unprovoked. It seems like this is a war that Sophie and her allies will never win.
Book 8.5 in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series is a little different. The first half or so is a collection of pictures, detention records, information and more that explain more about the complex characters and world Shannon Messenger has crafted. However, the second half is the next book in the series, with a twist. It continues the storyline, but alternates between Sophie and Keefe’s point of views. I very much enjoyed Unlocked, and would recommend the Keeper of the Lost Cities series to readers who enjoyed The Land of Stories series, the Percy Jackson series, and the Harry Potter series.
